Infant Toddler Services of Johnson County (ITSJC)
Situation
Infant Toddler Services of Johnson County (ITSJC), a non-profit organization that provides early-intervention services for young children with disabilities and developmental delays needed to modernize their aging and cumbersome technology infrastructure while ensuring data security in compliance with HIPAA regulations. The VPN-based system was slowing down connection speeds, causing difficulties for staff trying to access and work with critical data. This was further compounded by ITSJC’s highly mobile environment.
Task
We recognized the need for a solution that was more suited to a mobile environment and one that had the ability to access and share information with greater ease. We had to bolster their infrastructure to offer a centralized identity system for more efficient logins, while also unshackling them from their reliance on outdated technology.
Action
We proposed a shift towards Azure Active Directory Domain Services (AADS) on Microsoft 365 with SharePoint and OneDrive. Our team worked closely with ITSJC to put best practices into effect and customize the solution to meet their unique workflow requirements. Each user's workstation was individually migrated to AADS, and we ensured the files and structure were accurate in SharePoint. A few short months after getting approval, the project was fully complete.
Results
Following the transition, ITSJC staff experienced a significant improvement in their daily workflow. The new solution provided faster access to data without the use of a VPN, offering a consistently secure connection from anywhere. Real-time file sharing became possible through automated sync, and the staff reported that the conversion process was easier than anticipated.
