Many of you may wonder, as you call into the Pendello Solutions with a problem, who are these happy, helpful beings answering the phones and fixing my servers? Are they magical? Are they sent from the heavens? As far as I know, they are not magical or of divine descent, but they are really smart and the epitome of helpful! What makes them extraordinary is who they are and what brought them to the path of a business technology associate at Pendello Solutions. We have taken an in-depth look at a few of the amazing members of the technology team at Pendello Solutions and last week I had the opportunity to sit down with Jon. I quickly realized he is an incredibly interesting and creative guy who calls himself a nerd but I believe he is the definition of "cool." Though you shouldn't just take my word for that; keep reading and find out what drives Jon inside and outside of the office.
Jon, who has been with Pendello for a couple years, has a true passion for learning. In his words, not mine, "You can always be better!" I luckily very much agree with Jon and he demonstrates this passion on a daily basis. His first path of learning, by choice, was music and specifically, the drums. When he was 10 years-old he got his first set of drums and self-taught himself to "bang the crap" out of them until he "got good" and started to actually sound like a musician. Jon then learned the cello in the school orchestra which led him to a friend who played the guitar. From then on, Jon became reinterested in the drums and the two of them formed a band! The group jammed together daily and kept each other out of trouble until they eventually had a full playlist and were quite legit!
Jon still dabbles in music but doesn't get to practice as much as he'd like as some of his other hobbies and obligations have taken priority. One of his on-going passions is cars! He likes to drive them, build them and fix them! His love for cars is what eventually drove him to IT! He compares the troubleshooting process of the automotive industry very similar to the troubleshooting process of IT.
"In both, you start with your physical connections, is it connected to the battery….. and then you figure out the problem by narrowing it down from here and eliminating all the variables. "
"The frustrating thing about IT though is not getting that instant gratification of it working! There is a lot of waiting to see if your solution will work. I don't get to put a set of injectors in a diesel and see it fire up!"
But this downtime is when Jon has dabbled in a little free-hand drawing and 3-D modeling! You see what I mean, this guy is really cool!
