Microsoft Announces Password-less Authentication

If you are a Microsoft Fast Ring Insider and use Windows 10 S, you may be part of a new test preview of a password-less operating system! Through an authentication application, called Windows Hello, that can be set up on your phone, Windows 10 S users will never again see a password prompt.Windows Hello takes a more personal and secure method for sign ins. With Windows 10 devices, you can log in with your face, fingerprint or iris. This secure method allows extreme convenience as you can literally log in with a swipe or a glance! Now one may be concerned about how this information is stored in the device and whether such store information is safe…but even though the system is still under testing phases, it is proving to be very secure. Your image, fingerprint and/or iris is not stored in the system as an image instead, it is stored as a data representation of code that is encrypted. Additionally, your device automatically locks as your Bluetooth is out of range meaning, you don’t have to worry about the chance of forgetting to lockup your device.
This cutting-edge security is still in the testing phase but is proving to be a successful security system. Through this small-group testing, they are putting it through the ringer and thoroughly scrubbing the secure data and have stated they will not release it to the public until the feedback is positive. This extremely convenient and easy to use authentication system will be part of the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update and although the date is not yet finalized, it is rumored to be ready for release by late March or April.
